Power to the People!
How about this blog-stone? This story, about a blogger who became a go-to source for aviation experts, shows how easy getting some information is these days. Working on a laptop out of his Boston living room, the guy (with neither journalism nor aviation training) has "significantly altered how aerospace is covered." A business such as Boeing was forced to adapt its media relations to HIM. Might this be the start of something, in terms of industry scoops being forwarded to one central blog?

This is a really great article. I find open sourcing a very interesting concept. It seems as thought people's trust levels are generally low these days. For someone to trust the corrections or take input from another person is definitely a good thing and opens the door to a lot of knowledge communities. This is how investigative research can be conducted and when it is citizens doing the research and coming up with questions it keeps businesses and government in check. Kudos to FlightBlogger.
Based on this, would it be acceptable to start quoting information from blogs in research papers or dissertations? Where do we draw the line?
It seems as though blogging is gaining popularity very fast and now more and more people are starting to trust the information that is posted, which is very different from how it used to be. I seen another story about it on WGN the other day and people were speaking very highly of it which is great because many people used to think of blogging as being a negative form of journalism, since it wasn't regarded as factual information and what not. I really like this article though because it gives a whole new perspective.
